S.B. Cox Demolition of Richmond, VA demolished and removed the Mercury Blvd. flyover in Newport News, VA during the weekend of July 6th. Utilized on the job were a new LaBounty universal processor, model UP-30sv, several LaBounty concrete pulverizers and grapples. Also on the job was a Doosan 275 with a new Kent 6000 lbs-ft. hammer. Cox completed the job ahead of schedule.

Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project

Chesapeake's equipment is currently being used on the demolition and processing of wreckage of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in Maryland and Virginia.

A LaBounty MSD70-R Series III Mobile Shear, mounted on a Daewoo 400-LVC hydraulic excavator is employed to cut the beams, stringers and tons of other steel and concrete. Also present on the job is a LaBounty third member mounted UP30-III Universal Processor, mounted on a Daewoo 340 excavator, currently demolishing the old operators tower, from 40 feet above the old bridge deck, to the water line. In addition, American Bridge/ Kramer will use the machine to process bridge piers and piles. The work is expected to continue through the end of the year. These machines are typical of the demolition equipment available in the Chesapeake rental fleet.

The massive project, which was started in 1999 is scheduled to last into 2012 and will cost in excess of $2.4 billion.
